  1. Craig,

Do you know if anyone has logged the distance for the three notch trail in Charlotte Hall. I did map the route on mapmyrun.com, but it was only a guess. It’s a great trail for a quick run or a good out and back.

    Thanks,

    Jim Martin

  2. Hi Jim,

According to the trail website, it looks like the section from Hughesville to Charlotte Hall is about 2.5 miles. I’m looking forward to using it myself. It beats running up and down Route 231 and Route 5.

I plan on writing about it and taking pictures after the Festival.

    See you on September 6th!

  3. Craig,

I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for completion of Phase II of the Three Notch Trail yesterday.

After the ceremony some of us ran the new portion of the trail.

According to my Garmin Forerunner, the distance from the Senior Center to Deborah Drive was 2.06 miles, making a nice 4 mile run down and back.

This could be extended if I had started from closer to the Library.

  4. Hi Jeff,

That’s good to know. I’ve drove over to the Senior Center to check the trail out last week. I also called the Dept of Parks about the No Parking signs at Deborah Dr. I found out one could park at the Senior or the Visitors Center, but not at Deborah Dr.

Ray Mertz’s project, Hughesville Station, has plans for a trail to connect to the Three Notch Trail. I think that’s good news. I don’t know where the proposed trail in Charles County will be. When I find out, I’ll post it.

    See you Saturday!

    Craig

  5. A week and a half ago, I think, I drove up on a whim and did my evening run on the trail. I think I had 3mi from the northern end to the library, or to the south end — it goes south of the library actually. I also ran the residential cul-de-sacs at the north end, and around the path outside the Veterans’ home. Picked up almost a 12mi run out of it, and enjoyed it.
